Visitors to The Station can enjoy the wonderfully evocative smell of baking bread, thanks to the Angel’s Share bakery, which specialises in home-made breads, cakes, scones, quiches and patisserie.
Baked daily, the breads include white and wholemeal loaves as well as speciality breads like olive, sundried tomato and cheese. Visitors to the area should also look out for the Richmondshire loaf (made from rye and white flour, with cracked wheat and topped with polenta) and the locally inspired Brompton (made with buttermilk, pine kernels and sunflower seeds).
Also made on the premises are a range of mouth-watering cakes and patisserie, many of which can be sampled at Seasons restaurant/café bar. These are sold from the bakery as individual portions or as whole desserts - ideal if you want an easy but impressive solution for a dinner party or just to give the family a special treat. Particularly popular are the deliciously sticky treacle tarts, indulgent fruit frangipanes and hand-crafted pavlovas. If you are looking for a food gift, then the ribbon-tied packets of home-made biscuits, chocolate meringues or rich fruit cakes make an ideal choice.
